MY ROLE

I was the Lead Product Designer throughout the project cycle from planning and requirements gathering to sketching, wireframing, to the usability testing preparation.

PROJECT SUMMARY

LUCKY APP is the best way to get offers and discounts in the major cities in Egypt with only a few clicks. Users will benefit from the instant redemption of the offers as they do not have to wait for seasonal sales and discounts. Offers and discounts on variant brands: clothing and electronics, as well as all the cafes and restaurants can be redeemed using the mobile app.

#1 The Challenge / Problem

Story

The concept of the Lucky app is to offer discounts and offers on several brands, but not in the conventional way- no more coupons and vouchers. Lucky gives hundreds of discounts right on the mobile.

The User experience for Lucky is set based on its main message that is to allow the user to get more and pay less.

Partners & brands include:
Samsung, Crocs, Cook Door, Radio Shack….and many more (400+ brands) (3000+ branches)


Business challenge

Users do not easily trust the offers because most of them provide unclear information or even turn out to be a fraud.  Hence, the user experience in the Lucky app focuses on creating the best trustable experience through simplifying the user flow giving as much details as needed.


Approach

To completely understand the pain points of the users, I needed to understand the user persona by conducting user research and user interviews.


The Lucky app UX addresses the user direct pain points which are:

1-  Long wait for the sale season

2- Vague offers

3-  Worry about losing the voucher

4- Troubles redeeming the offer at the store

5- Very limited offers

#2 The Solution

Based on the collected data, the Lucky app’s structure is set as: offers feed, user profile, and a unique referral in-app system.

The seamless UX done here reassures the user through offering clear information on the discounts and their trustworthy providers. The offers are redeemed instantly and hassle free from the store using only the application. It is an Easy and Smart way of receiving offers and discounts at any time of the year.

The user can redeem all of the awesome Lucky discounts such as clothes, groceries, electronics, home appliances, coffee shops, fast food chains, restaurants, as well as beauty salons, resorts, spas, entertainment hubs and leisure activities. All that is needed now on the phone.

The steps I took to get this interesting product to millions of consumers:

0. KICKOFF

We started this project with stakeholders meeting to understand their business especially before lucky the mother compony was the led in loyalty programs and rewarding systems, so they were leading the market before launch this new product.

1. DISCOVERY

The research was done by their team, so we started with understanding the user persona and the value proposition from this experience. After that we jumped to architecting the information and defining the user flows

We have 2 types of users in the app, regular and premium accounts. based on IA we found multiple possible flows especially when the user redeem the offer

2. DESIGN

1- Personalized offers feed

It shows all the details of the offers whether free or premium: category, offer type (buy one, get one free- percentage discount- cashback) and expiry date as well as the option of saving the offer as a favorite.


2- The offer page

Here the user can find more information on the offer, store branches, and detailed terms and conditions.

3- Creative search bar and filters

The user can search by (offer category- offer type- location) and select the offer that he likes


4- User profile

This section includes:

  • The savings (automatically updated amount of money saved from the offers)
  • The wallet (cash available in the wallet ie: as a cashback)
  • Favorite offers (all saved offers and discounts)
  • Push notifications for more user engagement


5- Merchant profile

It includes extra details on the brand and all of its ongoing offers.


6- Compelling referral system

This feature encourages new users with great incentives and cashback rewards that can be redeemed through a special code.

3- Prototyping

Finally I prepared an interactive prototype to do a usability testing on wireframes level

#3 The Results

My role ended here. we designed this solid experience with ❤️ in Tremoloo studio

And Lucky have grown fast in a short period, now Lucky has:

  • +5 MILLION Users
  • 4.7 out of 5 rating on Play Store and Apple store
  • Powered by more than 10,000 stores


Personally I'm a premium user in Lucky, I'm enjoying every time I use lucky to get and offer, I'm so glad with each new feature and each success they achieve!
